FMP : Develop 2
During this week of development, on the journey of creating my film, I made a conscious decision to start writing a detailed script in my notes. These notes served as a means to capture my thoughts, ideas, and to create a script, with the ultimate intention of utilising them for voice recordings to be incorporated into my film.
Contemplating the use of an AI voice to aid in this process, I found myself combating with the idea of using AI to alleviate the challenges I often face when reading text out loud. While the prospect of utilising AI seemed promising initially, promising a smoother workflow and alleviating the struggle I have with reading from a script aloud such as stuttering, not speaking clear enough or speaking too fast, I soon came to realise the potential downsides.
One prominent concern that emerged was the risk of the AI mispronouncing certain words or phrases, which could detract from the overall quality and authenticity of the film. Additionally, a nagging thought lingered in the back of my mind—that depending solely on AI-generated voice recordings might strip away from the personal touch and emotional depth that comes in authentic human expression. It dawned on me that the project would lack a sense of personal connection to me if it wasn't my own voice conveying the narrative.
As I reflected further, I realised it was important to make my film feel close and personal. I understood that only using a real person's voice (especially my own) could give it the right feeling. So, even though AI is helpful, I chose to use my own voice for the narration.
