FMP : Develop 1
During the initial week of development, I engaged in experimentation with different materials for my project. Focusing on the Guinean franc (syli), a topic I wanted to touch on in my film, I opted to craft my own physical version of the currency. Choosing paper as my canvas, I painted the currency's format with green paint and decorated it with a layer of green fabric. I used black chalk to write the words of the banknote, aiming for authenticity and visual impact. This process allowed me to create a visual element that aligns with the narrative of my film. I feel this was successful as I managed to get as close and accurate in detail as I could to the real currency.
In my ongoing exploration, I went into experimenting with a variety of different colours for printing, aiming to discover if any alternative outcomes resonated more with me. During this process of experimentation I began to understand how different colours possess the power to evoke emotions and communicate themes within the narrative of my film.
I decided to experiment with different camera shots by placing fabric in front of the lens to see if it would enhance the visual appeal of my film. However, after conducting the test, I found the results to be less than satisfactory. I never felt compelled to revisit the technique, and it didn't spark my interest enough to incorporate it into the final project. Despite this, I have to say I was happy with how nice the pictures turned out from the experiment.
